Kydonieos Foundation | Art Nouveau and modern Greek art
The Kydonieos Foundation is an organisation aiming to operate as a cultural and intellectual centre in Andros. It was founded in 1994 by Petros and Marika Kydonieos. The Kydonieos Foundation, in the context of its social mission, presents art in its broader and integrated form. It aims to promote cultural events on the island of Andros and the rest of Greece. Without border barriers, it focuses on visual arts, plastic arts, music, theatre, literature and dance.
The direction of the Foundation is based on two pillars. On the one hand the steady contribution to the people of Andros. The spiritual and cultural way out of the island’s people during the winter and fall period. The second pillar is the events organised and carried out during the summer period when the island is vibrating with life.
Kydonieos Foundation | Workshops and Scholarships
The Kydonieos Foundation is housed in a magnificent architectural building. Since 1997 there is a fully equipped Ceramics Workshop. Lessons are offered for free to students, children and adults. In 1998 starts free classes of Musical Instruments for children aged 7-18 starts. Free is also the provision of organs, (mandolin, guitar, piano). Also since 1994, Byzantine Music lessons for children and adults are being delivered.
The Kydonieos Foundation does not stop there. Within the framework of the effort of financial and moral support for the graduates of Andros, has established a Scholarship program. From 1997 to today, it has awarded more than 26 scholarships to students enrolling in entrance examinations at Senior and Higher Education Institutions.
